11/7 at LGW *broadband advisable*

As you can see from my sig, I had a day trip to LGW on Monday. The flights aren’t really worthy of a trip report as they were uneventful, full both ways on the A319, which is a very nice aircraft by the way, very quiet. EZY are abit rejected at LGW though! S terminal isn’t particularly great and outdated, although as a shopping centre it’s got everything you need! 😉 But the pier that EZY use is awful really, the photo taking at security was something new to me too. I’ll start with the few pics from the flight from over Manchester at FL370, before firing into the pics from LGW itself. Beautiful weather so a fab view of the UK was available. 🙂

Great shots from one of my favourite UK airports 🙂 (The others being MME/NCL/MAN)

RIP,

In the photos of DAS Air, Meridiana and Vodaphone Ryanair where exactly are you. I have known LGW for many years and can’t quite place that spot. It looks like you are next to the old Staff Car Park Z at the West end of the Southern hangars or thereabouts.

Am I right?

Great pics by the way.

1L.

Yes, that’s sounds right to me. Taken from the same place as the departure shots, just through the perimeter fence at the end of the 26s there.

Nice shots mate.

I have a feeling HMCC is something to do with the wedding of Charles and Camilla, His/Her Majesty Charles/Camilla?

Also roughly how tall are you? I am 6’3, and after my flight on EZIB vowed never to go back on an EZY 319 again it was so uncomfortable.

Ah! Could be… It was delivered around the same time as the got married, so that would make sense.

At about 5’8″, I don’t normally have to worry. 😉 However I certainly felt more comfortable on it then I did on my flights on the ex Go B733s, now they were cramped. But at 6’3″, I can see problems arising! 😉

Very nice selection there, when i pased through LGW on my way to SSH in the easter i was in the S terminal and didnt think much of it, but i found the variety of aircraft and airlines was rather impressive.

I suppose you’ll be wanting a tie-up of the stuff on the ground at MAN, then? :diablo:

Interesting pics. Where did you take them from?

The in-flight ones were taken from 19A on HMCC. :dev2:

Most the ones of the ground were taken at the end of the 26s by the perimeter fence, would have been much better if they were in use and not the 08s. The other few which included the bridge etc, were taken from a spot along side the runway, which we were promptly chased off from. :p

Absolutely superb Stuart, would love to get to Gatwick.

It was somewhere I had never been, which played a part in my decision, lots of interesting movements, Phuket Air is still grounded there aswell. Plus, as a bonus on approach we flew right over Dunsfold AKA Top Gear, if only I’d the camera to hand! Couldn’t see anyone going round the track anyway. 😉 S terminal is abit rubbish however, N terminal is nicer though.

Thanks.

Ignore me, I’ve just seen your signature!

lol, HMCC struck me as an odd reg when it showed! Would I be right in saying it’s the initials of someone? EZII is barely a month old, both were immaculate in side anyway.

The last few here are out of sequence and were actually taken at the beginning of the day, not as sunny, but just as hot! 😉

Yep, another I needed to get as I was going to miss it’s departure. 😉 Chose to stay on the runway after it had slowed for a faster taxi to it’s stand, right next to the runway!

This highlights the fact that the wrong runway was in use for ideal photo ops, landing aircraft were too far away, and departing aircraft were high over us. Never seen DAS Air Cargo before, so it was worth the pic. 😉
