12 volt Engine Generator

i have just got this early 12 Volt Generator, RAF No. 5c/981 it is a clockwise rotation.
its the same as fitted to the early Merlin’s but they were, i think Anti-Clockwise ? anyone got any more information or advise ?

I think it still has a splined shaft. Some hammer and chisel mechanic has bashed some nails in to act as a sort of keyway

Most generators had a splined drive shaft,if this was an aircraft one then it has been adapted.
