Hi,
Was passing Heathrow, so we took the scenic route (for my benefit). Aircraft were departing 27R, right in front of the visitor’s centre, so we stopped for 15 to 20 minutes and waited for the Thai flight to Bangkok to depart.
Scheduled for 11.50am departure, it took to the skies at 12.11pm, slightly behind schedule.
I did have my camera with me and took photos, although I was shooting straight into the sun. I was also outside the visitors centre, so most of the 5 or 6 shots I took had trees and signposts in the way!
As we left, I saw a United 747-400 depart. Here’s two shots below, both are of HS-TGI (I think?) before and after takeoff. Not great I’m afraid.

Hey nice photos but it would be nice to see something a bit different like a close up of that Sri-Lankan A330 or A340:)

Good job T5, i really like the second photo. It shows the airport scene and has the very nice 47 climbing away in the backround.

If only I could, but I reckon I’d be locked away for a few years. It’s a shame. There is such great potential for the visitors centre as a photography spot. I don’t think it would hurt BAA to remove the trees since they don’t have an official viewing area anymore!

Being into photography I have always contemplated buying a petrol driven chain saw as invariable a sign post or similar will get in the way.
