15 Squadron WW2

I want to research 15 Squadron for the period 1942-43 which is the period that my father served in aircrew flying Stirlings. I would appreciate advice from forum member about the best information sources that I can go to. I live in New Zealand and am restricted (at this stage anyway) to website sources as I am unable to physically visit libraries or aviation museums. 15 Squadron was based initially at Bourne and was then transferred to Mildenhall at this time.

If purchasing is an option, then you can get both histories here:

http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&tn=The+history+of+XV+Squadron&x=0&y=0

Alternatively, I have a copy of the fabulous “Oxford’s Own: The Men and Machines of No.15/XV Squadron Royal Flying Corps/Royal Air Force” by Martyn Ford-Jones. If there is anything in particular you would like me to look for then please let me know and I could have a look through the book for you.

Best regards,
Graham Herbertson

Check out this site:

ORBs for WWII for some sqns – I think mainly fighter sqns so far, but keep an eye on it, as it appears to be expanding.

15 Squadron

Many thanks – the title is ‘The history of XV Squadron RFC-RAF’ published in 1975. Unfortunately it isnt available from any of the Auckland libraries, however, whilst researching the book I have found another three publications which although again not available from the library will enable me to scour the second hand bookshops and he net. Thanks for your help.
