American men have just what it take to please the British women. Sorry Guys I would train you but I would have to charge! 170,000 British women just can’t be wrong
As much of the world tried to return to normal living and working patterns after World War II, some 170,000 British women chose to be uprooted from the homeland they knew and loved. These were British war brides, a uniformly young group who by marrying American servicemen became part of the largest single group of female immigrants to the United States. Though the women came to the U.S. from all parts of the British Isles, they were an unusually homogeneous group, averaging 23 years of age, from working- or lower-middle-class families and having completed mandatory schooling to the age of fourteen. For the most part they emigrated alone and didn’t move into an existing immigrant population. Jenel Virden draws on records in the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and the Public Record Office in London, as well as questionnaires and personal interviews, in relating the women’s story. Virden finds that the marriages actually took place in spite of, rather than because of, the war. And, while the women benefited from special nonrestrictive immigration legislation – and found public welcomes and a good deal of favorable publicity when they arrived – they also had much in common with other immigrant groups, including a strong sense of ethnic identity.

But he doesn’t mention how many Americans were prosecuted – or the authorities tried to prosecute – for rape…
Don’t know the figures myself, but since there were up to three times as many illegitimate children born in the areas around American military bases I am sure you can make your own assumptions. The media was a bit more open to actually describing what the troops did with the local population in Vietnam, although I don’t recall many ‘hooches’ being flamed in Britain…

Yes I would like that. I thought you would like the
Air Force Museum, Or Oshkosh. It’s great ! I get there a day early and camp near the end of the runway get out the lawn chair and watch the show of planes landing all day. You never know what you’ll see. Sometimes a wreck.

Oh God no. Can’t think of anything worse. Was stranded there for 6 weeks once – couldn’t get deported quick enough. And besides, I live 2 hours from Duxford, no need to travel to air museums. You should come here.
Mind you, I do like the food.

But unfortunately they failed to instill a respect for spelling, good manners, sensible feeding habits or humility on their husbands, but with that good old stiff uppper lip they continued to do their duty to God and to the King, and for the glory of the Empire held their tongues and stayed.
Deserved medals, every one of them.
