If there’s no emotional attachment to them sell them on ebay or via an auction house like Dominic Winter (but state the reserve you want)…..they’re all scanned online at FlightGlobal archive but you might like to check with Flight if they have any missing pages in their 1910-1912 scans

As a new user I read this thread and realised that I have a box of my fathers flight magazines, it says they are complete 1910 to 1912 but I haven’t checked. I know some of them are a bit tatty but a lot aren’t. I don’t know if anyone has any idea what to do with them?

Not surprising really (but it depends on who you spoke to) as they are pretty much concentrating in getting the next issue out.

PP need to finish my CPL before they will let me out on a weekday! The DA42 has a surprising single-engine performance for only a 135hp diesel.

Wonder if Flight still have copies of their own?

Apparently John (the mags owner) contacted Flight’s office and met with no interest whatsoever.

Canberra, Phantom, Viscount, Sea Hawk, Britannia. (I didn’t want to be left out :diablo: )

Big day tomorrow with a crane arriving at 9am to hopefully help us join the front of Britannia G-ANCF to her wing. Wish us luck please folks, this is going to be a real brown trousers day. 😮

What with Aeroplane going over to IPC etc aiui the archive is fragmented. Thing is though any donation back to them (RBI) would have to be teased out into the public domain.

As a present employee though I dont know the answer. I know they have a cracking archive of pictures which some of the chaps in our office have been putting on the company www. Also have been adding some cracking cutaway drawings from over the years.

Either way even if your not a fan of the magazine I highly recommend a peek in the above mentioned areas. For the historics fan there is some cracking stuff.

A chap at work told me he had some old aircraft magazines, and asked if I would take a look at them. What I hadn’t expected was that he would turn up with volumes 1 and 2 of Flight Magazine dated 1909 !!

While these are obviously quite rare, they are too early to be of interest to me and so I would welcome comments.

Have you tried contacting Nick Forder at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester? He may well be very interested in these and, if so, would ensure that they are in the public domain.

According to their on-line collections search they don’t have any (yet).

Actually, I already have a few copies of Flight from the same period and whilst I share your sentiments WV, I keep mine just as ‘curios’!

Seems unusual that no-one wants a couple of bound volumes though (mine are single). Sadly, I’m not putting in an off though.

Had they been 1950’s issues I’d have jumped on them.

Sadly, it looks like these will be heading to the USA unless there’s some British interest.
