Thanks folks! Nice to have answered, and it makes sense.

As I can’t read Dutch, it clearly doesn’t apply to me.:dev2:

translate.google.com should help

I don’t think he wants to. 😉 Either way, I’d expect that the images are now out of copyright unless there’s something odd about an aspect of Dutch law.

Regards,

Uiver arrived in Rotterdam on the ship ‘Statendam’ and was flown out of a nearby field after re-assembly see Wim Parmentier’s site

Lovely stuff!

Does the photo say anything re- location on the back? The upper shot here may be from the same occasion: http://www.edcoatescollection.com/ac5/ROW%20Europe/PH-AJU.html

Regrettably, there’s nothing on the back of the photo except KLM photograhic dept stamp with a warning (in Dutch) not to copy the photo. As I can’t read Dutch, it clearly doesn’t apply to me.:dev2:

PH-AJU is, of course, Uiver, the second place machine in the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race.

I wonder what city’s docks are below it in this picture? I’m guessing Port Melbourne, with the later Fisherman’s Bend airfield to be developed in the swampy area to the top right, but I’m not sure I can make it fit. It can’t be many places as there was no air-to-air of it on the race, AFAIK, and it was delivered new to Holland for the race and tragically destroyed in December of 34, only a couple of months later.

I did apologise in advance. I’m afraid the temptation was just too great!

Do you have a hole in your attic roof and, if so, why does the water only come through after midday on Sundays!

You know what I mean. Another rainy Sunday afternoon spent in the attic.
