1945 74 Sqn Spitfire – Hugh Murland

Hi all

I’m looking for info on a Spitfire for a model I’m working on.

Does anyone happen to know what the code letter (and if available, serial) for the Spitfire flown by Hugh Murland was when he flew with 74 Squadron in 1945. The unit code at that time was 4D, but I don’t know the aircraft’s individual code letter or serial. The code letter is the main priority.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

There was a guy a that I corresponded with after I did the paint job for TD248. He flew TD247 with 74 Sqn, at the time you speak of. Unfortunately I can’t find his name at present, but he was a member of the Spitfire Society Eastern branch (?) and lived in Westcliff or possibly Leigh-on-Sea in Essex. He might be able to help, perhaps someone in the society can point you in the right direction. If I find the name I’ll drop you a pm.
