The Airshow pictures could be Wattisham with the resident Javelins. The 12 Sqn B.6 brought back memories. These a/c were ferried down to Cambridge to be converted to B.16s (so in that picture it’s still a B.6), when the Canberras were replaced with Vulcans and I got in some nice jollies in the Anson TX176 on the way to collect the crews back to Coningsby. WH977 is an ex 9 Sqn B.6

Excellent pictures again David.
The Herc looks great in that delivery scheme, you can really relate it to the Daks and Yorks before it.

hi David,
First two photos were most certainly Gatwick. The year was likely 1953. They were refurbished by Airwork General Trading and sold abroad to Syria and Rhodesia. Airwork refurbished over 100 spitfires during the early 50’s. I have a complete list of serials someplace written down during my working days with Airwork.
There is an excellent post by antoni on this site dated August 16th, 2008 under the title Syrian Spitfire Mk 22 photo’s (old thread) which gives more info.
These pics certainly brought back memories,,,many thanks for posting!
