1950's Archive Part 5: Farnborough 1950

From a large collection of negatives covering the Farnborough Airshow of September 1950, the following few are of reasonable quality. Since there are only a dozen or so, I’ll also post the 1948 and 1949 displays.
Photos by the late Gerald Lawrence, digitised and made available by Tony Clarke.

Seeing those photos was like being transported back to a time I would love to have photographed,”with a digital” of course.looking at the fruits of an industry post war with such promise ahead and now knowing some sixty years later its history is just a record in books with the material bits in museums and scrapyards.(with the exception of a few in places such as Duxford and elsewhere) Thank-you for posting and is there any more.:)..Cheers.JB

Many thanks for those. Excepting of course the pic of how to ruin a Mosquito.
I went in ’49 and again in ’54. Great days, as someone said on the Malta thread, “when we had an air force”. I note some Nimrods have been reprieved for a few months, to help out over Libya.

Fantastic yet again, it must have been something else visiting the late ’40s early ’50s SBAC shows. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen a pic of the Prince prototype.
