1950s Spitfire ID??

Hi All,

I wonder whether anybody can help. I had the pleasure of visiting Orford Ness on Saturday and whilst there was shown a photograph of a High Back Spitfire (possibly IX or XVI) standing on its nose out on the range, probably just after the 1953 floods. The aircraft was pretty complete, although was missing most of the access panels and sadly the photograph was too grainy to make out any detail.
Would anybody happen to know which Spitfire(s) ended their days at Orford Ness?
