July 7th 1951 B29 USAAF Crash
On a similar somber note I have a newsletter from the village of Carsphairn in Dumfries and Galloway which tells of the fatal crash of a B29 in July 1951 with the loss of 11 airmen onboard. A plaque listing the crewmen is on the side of the A713 heading towards Dalbeattie.

Yep, WF502 it is, it actually broke up in mid air and spread wreckage over a very wide area, though the bulk of the fuselage and inboard wing sections came down in a small area. The Court of Inquiry / Board of Trade reports are at the NA at Kew.
