1971 Rothmans publicity.

Does anyone know if there was a 1971 brochure for the Rothmans team? The 1970 was a magazine like affair, 2/6d if I remember correctly! The 1972 was a more normal fold out leaflet. But 1971 I cannot find a trace.

Help!

Thanks so much for the replies, I have a feeling that the 1971 season used the ’70 booklet, even though the pilots had changed. Couldn’t waste all those 2/6s!!

I’d like to proved wrong though.

Just as a PS has anyone heard of a book being written or published on the team? I’m sure that I heard something a couple of years ago.

I have one. I brought my family home to UK on leave from Malta in 71 and I took my small son to an Air display at Tollerton on the 16th May 1971. I presume that the booklet is the same as the 1970 issue as it’s not dated but I have the Airshow pink slip inside which is dated.. The pilots named are Manx Kelly, Ian Weston, Neil Williams and Raymond Hogarth.

G-KEST of this forum may well have one, if such a thing was printed. He wrote the following on PPRuNe in 2003

”I flew with the RAT’s for the 1971 season in Stampe SV4C’s flying G-AYGR or G-AYCK in the No. 2 slot. A fabulous experience especially since I had no formation aerobatic time or training prior to joining the team. Not only that, but my first airshow with the team was the afternoon of the day I joined………!!! One day I will write it all up for one of the aviation magazines but I can confirm that on the odd occasion adrenalin was brown. Great blokes and fantastic pilots. Had to pack it in at the end of the 1971 season as, O thee of little faith, I lacked confidence in Rothmans continuation as sponsors ”
