Thanks to MrB.175 for triggering some early (for me) aviation memories with his thread about Buccaneer.
Mine is a similar request.
Does anyone have the 1982 series “Airline” on DVD? I remember quite a few bits about it, but the main story is of how Jack Ruskin set up his own freight service post WWII. Just to see the Dak landing in Palestine again would be fab.
I’ll gladly re-imburse any costs involved to get the whole series on DVD.
Many thanks forumites!
VB.

Be afraid…be VERY afraid….last time it was discussed on here one or two posters got quite excited about copyright issues and one or two others got pm’s outlining dire consequences to nether regions should they dare to copy the series for someone else! 😮
Just thought I’d mention it!!

It would be nice to see it on DVD.
Here’s one of the models used in the series. They were built to a scale of 1:9.5 giving a wingspan of only 10 feet, ‘though this picture makes it look much larger, and were powered by Webra .61 glow engines from memory. They were built with a GRP fuselage and foam wings. I think five models were built in total. They also had a 1/4 scale Auster that was also used.

We have discussed “Airline” on the forum before. Only nine episodes were made because of disagreements between creator /writer Wilfred Greatorex and Yorkshire TV. A proposed second series was scrapped.
The series was repeated on Granada (Satellite TV) about 10 years but has never appeared on DVD. However “The Sandbaggers” (made by the same team and also featuring Roy Marsden) has just appeared on DVD so who knows it may be on DVD in the near future.
Best Wishes,
Colin
