Not bad, not exactly brilliant either!

We’ve got 4 DC-8’s inside, KO, KH, KN and I don’t know what the other one is…KG maybe?
KF (Kilo Fox) is the DC-8 55F that’s parked outside (in the old livery) and the one we did the engine runs on.
The 747-200 is a combi version, 5R-MFT ex Air Madagascar which was bought purely for spares and parts for our own 74 fleet. I went in it the other day and it’s like a ghost plane in there! Quite sad really, most of the seats and toilets are intact still. I took a load of safety cards and inflight magazines out of it. She’s going to be chopped up soon sadly. Apparently Aviation Servies are getting annoyed with it being there taking up so much room!! They keep their support vehicles behind it.

somthing along the lines of “cheeky bu*gers!” i expect……i’m in 07L myself, nice bit of excercise at lunch time! how many aircraft have MK got back there?? I’ve seen at least one DC8 and a 747………….

yup definitily white, saw it being rolled out ouf the paint shop at filton, on the way to lunch the other day……it was just getting ready for take-off at knocking-off time.
Camera’s are not allowed on-site without special clearance so there’s no chance of me jumping headlines with some of the aircraft that get rolled out of the air livery hangar (the old brabazon hangar as it happens) unfortunately.

Coanda,
yep It’s white! deffo… I saw it being rolled out too!
I work for MK Airlines, we’re next door in the Brabazon Hangar and I took some photos of it. They didn’t mind at all! In fact the crew were messing around taking photos themselves before they flew it back to LGW!
I spoke to the crew and they asked me if they liked it or not. Not too sure what they thought about it! They don’t like our livery much 🙁 LOL
The bloke from Air Livery said to the Pilots “It’s on bloody Airliners.net already!” Had to laugh at that. 😀
Our tug is broken (gearbox  ) and we had to borrow that one from Aviation Services in the photo to push out one of our DC-8’s for an engine (KF) run and they charged us for it! 😮 Don’t know what the boss
said :p

Its not the best livery in the world, but its not the worst livery in the world either. Nice and simple. I very much doubt the paying public would give two monkies about the livery.

It was early in the morning so perhaps I didn’t see the colour correctly.
I think at least initially we’ll be flying them. I don’t think the US will permit Nigerians flying into their country (at least that is what I’ve been told). Probable pattern – LHR-JFK-LOS-JFK-LHR and LHR-LOS-JNB-LOS-LHR.

I saw the A320 in SOF a few weeks ago. It was definately white.

Definitly white not silver:

Wys, is this going to operate from LHR with normal VS crew, or will there actualy be a totally seperate operation out in Lagos?

I guess it’s hard to do much else to it. I mean, you need the red tail to keep Virgin’s (well known) identity. And then you need Green and White to symbolise Nigeria. Wouldn’t particularly like to be the designer who got given the job, must have been hard to make anything involving those colours look good together.
By: wysiwyg - 14th June 2005 at 22:38
At least we won’t be able to see the green from the inside!
Are we sure the fuselage is white and not just a bad photo of the silver? I saw the A320 in Lagos recently and don’t remember the fuselage being white.
I gather they had a lot of problems getting the engine cowlings to take the green paint over the old red.

An old saying i used to hear (Red and Green Should Never Be Seen)
Wasn’t that Blue and Green? As in ‘should never be seen except on an Irish queen’.
I don’t think it’s TOO bad, but as bmi-star and Airline Owner say respectively it would have looked better with a silver fuselage and the title further forward as on the VS 340.

I personally like it. Looks very “Nigerian” if you know what I mean! 😉
Good choice of c/s for the airline.
