A very sad situation, condolences to friends and family involved.

I too was flying on Sunday and we just couldn’t seem to find ourselves an empty bit of airspace. Constantly having to change course due to other aircraft, and the circuit at Stapleford was a nightmare. It’s a shame that something such as this has to happen before people really take the idea of a mid-air collision seriously enough.

G-EYES is almost certainly the 402. The other aircraft is thought to be a KR-1 lightweight / homebuilt aircraft.

This is very sad news. I was flying on Sunday and there were a lot of aeroplanes about, with various airshows, gliding competitions etc. taking place. It only makes you think yet again – there but for fortune.

I can’t be the only one to feel how ironic was that registration, when you consider ‘see and be seen’ and clearly five pairs of them did not see the danger coming.

Cessna 402

By process of elimination and looking at the footage from a well known news network, I reckon the Cessna 402 was G-EYES ov RVL. I have not seen any confirmation on this but based on my knowledge. I have flown on G-MIND of RVL on similar reconaissance flights. Condolences to all the families of people involved.

The BMAA web site is saying that the other aircraft involved was not a microlight.

Current information seems to feature a Cessna 402/404 of RVL / Atlantic / Atlantique.

I’ve also heard it to be a 400 series Cessna so will lock this thread and leave it ti the GA Forum.

The twin Cessna is believed to be Coventry based and the other aircraft probably a home built.
