2 hrs at AMS

Spent some time at AMS this afternoon, and decided to take some pics from the public terrace. First one this rather new A320 of Martinair.

Fantastic shots again Roger. The Malev captain looks like he’s had a long day already. (lol)

I must find the time for a day trip to AMS myself soon.

Hi greekdude,

I will be at schiphol the 23rd showing an Austrian spotter arond. I will ask him if he minds you joining us. Otherwise I can also come the 24th. If you want I can show you to the spot alongside the runway (I do have to use public transportation though!). Just go to the following thread to see what you can expect there:

The observation terrace is indeed land side.

If you are interested just e-mail me at:

Tenthije, I’ll be in Amsterdam from the 21st till the 24th of this month. My hotel is only 2 stops away from AMS, and I’ll be down for doing some viewing from the deck, especially if it’s landside.

Brilliant photos – so much of people’s own work being posted these days. Keep them coming!

The Malev 733 is a good one.

To go to the observation terrace, you should go landside. Once landside you should walk to the Burger King. (after a flight with airline food, you might as well pay it a “flying” visit). I am not quite sure how you get to the BUrger KIng, because it depends on the arrival hall you use. However, it is in the middle of the mall and it is huge. If you can not find it, just ask anyone!

If you are standing in front of it, looking towards the ordering desks, you can look to the right (direction of the supermarket).

You should be looking at a pair of stairs with next to it (on the right) an elevator. Climb those stairs and you will find the observation platform.

You can take Monster500 directions, but that entrance is indeed a bit harder to find. JUst follow the signs “Bezoekersterras” or “Panorama terras” (not quite sure which one).

When will you be going, if I have a day of I’ll show you around.

GD , when at AMS (arrive there by train or aircraft unless you want to pay a fortune in carpark costs), follow the directions “Bezoekersterras” and you end up there. BW Roger

GD. ams is a bugger to navigate, its in the unrestricted area. not as clear to find as FRA.

its up the top via some stairs near a small bar, you will have to look for it. but AMS is so big by the time u find it you might run out of time.

Roger, I’m going to be in AMS in about a week or so. Where is the public terrace, and how do I get there?

737-800 was parked with most of its flaps (and other things) “hanging” out of the wing. 747-400 (new livery) in the back.

One of KLM’s 747ns in the new livery which, to be honest, I don’t realy like.
