2 questions

Hi all! Let me ask you two questions:
1> What do I have to learn in order to become an air trafic controller?
2> What do I have to learn in order to become an airline manager?
I am wondering about the opportunities for these two jobs in Germany.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the LCY anwers Peter and Comet. I’ll just have to take a risk with Liverpool 😀

No visit to Liverpool would be complete without taking mayor risks to your life. 😉

The area parallel to the runway is best, there are seats here so you can be comfortable as you spot 😀 I’ve used this bit to get some superb video footage, of both take offs and landings. You cannot go wrong there.

2) Is viewing any good on the South Side of London City? I’ve got an hour to waste before i need to go to Euston, so is there any car parks or road to the south of 10/28 😉

Speaking as a former (and wannabe) cockney I can say that yes there are reasonable viewing fascilitities.

If the wind comes from the east you see the planes on final approach and/or lining up for take-off. Between 70mm and 200mm should be enough for all but the smallest biz jets. Just exit the terminal and walk towards the right. After a 10 or 15 minutes stroll you will be at the biz jet apron. There is a crash gate that can be used to poke your lense through.

If the wind comes from the west viewing fascilities are less favourable as you will be further away from the planes. When leaving the terminal go to the left into the parking lot, can’t be more than a 3 minutes walk. In fact the bus stops right there. From here you can see the runway. Planes will be landing right in front of you. For take-offs the planes will first taxi past over the runway and then turn around and take off.

At a guess I’d say no-one knows – Steve was just describing his fantasy ATC person, I think!

Flood.

You have to learn to be indecisive, arrogant, short tempered, rude and ignorant, if you’ve got any or all of these traits you’ll be a shoe in
