20mm cannon link

Hi Guys,

I was recently lucky enough to find what can only be described as a hoard of 20mm cannon links some of which are relic condition and some that only have light surface rust, I have a couple of question that I would appreciate help on.
Firstly there was a small amount of link that as you can see in the pictures was painted green, and I was wondering what the reason for this was? Was it to demark a specific length of shells or type of shell? Also some are clearly marked WB8 H1 does this stand for anything in particular?
I have attached some photos of 5 of the good one I quickly cleaned, in the same place I found a stainless steel bit which I assume is possible early jet, no part numbers or markings, help on an ident would be also much appreciated

Just to be clear my intention is to eventually clean up, paint and sell some of the link and possible the stainless steel part (as there are several more) to fund further trips to the location they were found. I just thought I would let everyone know as I’m aware a lot of people don’t take kindly out of their extensive knowledge being profiteered from

Thanks

Regards Sam
