Having just installed gas cannons in EN398 there is an ajustable setting on the ciircuit board for the firing rate can anyone tell me how many rounds per second these guns fired as fitted in the MKIX Spitfire? also the total number of rounds available.

I can only go on what the chap that makes them says I should use . I am well aware of the risk from oil which my Girl seems to produce in copius ammounts :diablo: They use them in tanks so i guess they are safe.
I have a member of the team who is dedicated to the guns and stays clean at all times. They are a cracking design and fit inside the cannon cowlings with quick relaese fittings at the ports and wing roots. There are as loud as hell, thought the engine would drown them out no fear of that, not sure how many shows will let us fire them 😮

Your going to need a bigger cannon blister for one of these…..

With oxygen stored in the rear of the cockpit the feeds are much longer than the normal application.
I would have thought nitrogen or compressed air was a little safer Graham :D:diablo:

Thanks all will post a link to a video once we get them working properly. Its the first time they have been installed in a Replica aircraft and the first time a twin gun set up has been used.
With oxygen stored in the rear of the cockpit the feeds are much longer than the normal application. The fire rate is set for 50 calls and this seems a little fast. Although the pressure at the guns is correct it has trouble supplying enough gas for constant firing and we are getting allot of missfires. Hopefully slowing down the firing rate will allow them to operate properly.

Standard rate for the Mk.I-IV (the IX didn’t carry the Mk.V) was 650rpm, and the capacity of the (V)C wing was 120 rpg.

Don’t know about Mk IX but the Mk 21 had 175 round for the inboard guns and 150 for the outboard guns.

Rate of fire of Hispano 20mm Mk 5 star was approx 600 rpm. Don’t know the Spit ammo tank capacity but I would guess between 150 to 200 rounds per gun.
