For Postfade
Thought I had seen all your Argosy pics but you keep finding more. Were you still in Singapore in late ’65 when there were three 105 Squadron Argosys detached fron Aden? If so did you get any pics. Did you ever publish all your pics yet in a book or website.
For Bill T
Those pics are of a “Whistling Wheelbarrow”. The civvy version without the tit. That one is c/n 6801. Details here http://www.argosyair.co.uk/civil.html#6801
But thanks for sharing them, they confirm the fate of the airframe that I had read somewhere else. Can I use them on my Argosy website and if so who should the credit go to.

Aaahhh !! The Whistling Tit.
The site looks really good.
Here’s a couple more from my Changi pics, you haven’t seen yet:
Argosy XP445 landing on Changi runway 02 past the last Shack 1A WB854 that expired as the fire dump aircraft in 1963.
XP449 on finals for 02.
All the best for the season.

Nice evocative pics. Dave. In RAF, I did do some odd first line jobs on Argosy’s at FCMPC Valley in Mid -late 1960’s. they would bring in visiting squadrons gear for the weeks annual Fighter Camp missile firing on Aberporth Range, ( Lightnings, etc. ) Known by all as “The Whistling Tit”, a name that suited admirably. And suddenly, like many other types we knew and loved, all gone.
However, a forumite friend on holiday in New Zealand, South Island 2 weeks ago, took these pics. of the remains of what looks like a Safe Air Cargo Argosy that crashed at Woodbourne airfield several years ago and was dragged across to the boundary and into a chaps garden and used as a store. Apparently, the chap now wants rid of it. make a good C/pit section if nothing else. I don’t know its number and wonder if it could be an ex 215 Sqdn. aircraft.——- someone out in forum land must know.
N.Z preservationists ????? Shame if it gets scrapped.
