I saw Rosco’s thread about the Eagle and figured, “Why not”. This is my proposal for a modern 21st century F-4 Phantom design. Obviously they would be new build planes due to the age of most F-4’s in service around the world. You could put in an engine like the F-119, and not necessarily with TVC although that would be neat. The aircraft could have some sort of canards or something up from on the intake shoulders like on the proposed Israeli Super Phantom. The canopy could be a new bubble type that is two piece with wrap around windscreen. The aircraft could have the M61A2 gun fitted and the usual 640 rounds. Conformal tanks could also be an option to be be mounted on either the centerline or on the sides of the air intakes. The aircraft could be fitted with a radar such as the AESA or the AN/APG-77 with air-to-air and air-to-ground modes. It could be compatible with modern weapons like future AMRAAM models or the Meteor BVRAAM. RCS could be reduced by fitting a gold tinted canopy and putting RAM in certain areas. I think this Phantom 21 or whatever you would call it would be really nice. Any other ideas. (Don’t bash this thread or anything, I am only trying to make for nice discussion.)
