As July 4th is a friday, can I assume that there will be a shortage of staff that day in various companies around this area.
The Glacier Girl flight last year was extremely well covered, you have to worry about any vintage aircraft carrying out such a trip, lets hope we have the same coverage and all goes well, at least they have 4 engines.

Liberty Belle’s planned arrival at Duxford is July 4th!

Might risk a day trip over from Belfast to see her arrive.

FLYING LEGENDS AIR SHOW TO HOST NEARLY 70 WARBIRDS

The Flying Legends Air Show at the Imperial War Museum Duxford on Sat 12 and Sunday 13 July will be bringing together a mouth-watering selection of classic warbird aircraft from the UK, Europe and the United States of America.

This phenomenal air show is one of the best air shows in the world for seeing historic, rare and classic aircraft display, with all the participants being piston-engined combat aircraft – predominantly from the Second World War era.

The line up for this year’s Legends will see some 13 Spitfires, 6 P-51 Mustangs, 3 Hurricanes, 2 P-40’s, The Fighter Collection’s stable of “cats” – the Hellcat, Wildcat and Bearcat and a jaw-dropping host of other historic aircraft. Also, for the first time ever, the Team Guinot wing walkers will be presenting 5 Stearman aircraft in the distinctive purple and cream Team Guinot livery and there will be 3 B-17 Flying Fortresses at Legends.

Says Jane Larcombe of The Fighter Collection, organisers of the event at Duxford “Each year, we endeavour to make Flying Legends even better than the year before. With such a varied and exciting line up, Legends 2008 promises to be a must for all aviation enthusiasts as well as something every different for those wishing to experience an air show.”

The air show takes over twelve months in planning and groundwork and the team are working around the clock on all the final preparations to bring over 3 hours of non-stop superb flying to fruition.

Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to get up closer to the aircraft on the flight line walk on the morning of the show. Excitingly, visitors will also have the opportunity to see inside the 3 B-17 Flying Fortresses for a small additional charge.

The whole of the Museum will be open for visitors to enjoy and there will also be a huge selection of trade stands as well as The Flying Village which is new for 2008 and gives visitors the opportunity to find out more about some of the aircraft participating and how to support them.

Duxford is located just south of Cambridge at junction 10 of the M11. Gates open at 8.00 am and the flying begins at 2.00 pm. Tickets to the Museum and the air show – Adults £29.95, Senior Citizens £24.95, Children £9.95, Disabled/Concession £9.95. Discounted tickets available up to 4 July – call 01223 499353 to book early and save! All flying subject to weather, serviceability and operational commitments. For more information about tickets or the flying programme visit iwm.org.uk/duxford. *There is an additional charge for the Flight Line Walk

if I can count I only come to five P-51’s: Old crow( Confirmed to me by SHF), Miss Helen?, Miss Velma, Big beautifull Doll and Feroucious Frankie. Maybe the the French one Nooky Booky IV but they send me a e-mail that they only send there P-40N Little Jeanie. A Other option is the Dutch Mustang: Damn Yankee but the last couple of years he asked to much money( he only came ones to Legends I thought 2002 he flew in formation with the A-36 Apache). No way Marinell, Jumping Jaques or Janie will appear because they send me a e-mail that they don’t participate. I put my money at the swedish P-51 It’s about time.

P51 Twighlight Tear

Does anyone know whether the Fighter Collection’s P51 “Twighlight Tear” has returned from the states and if so, if it’s likely to take part at Flying Legends? Also, although having attended all the major shows at Duxford since last year’s Legends, I still haven’t seen the Curtiss P40B fly and again wondered if this is due to take an active roll this year.

Seafury T.20 is not longer scheduled at all.

Yeah, that’s a little worrying. Anyone know why? Wish I could go to Legends but it’s all sorted for RIAT this year… Legends will have to wait till next year.
