There have been a few 3-engined commercial aircraft such as the Lockheed Tri-Star and the DC-10,the latter forming the basis for the KC-10. However, there seems to be an aversion to building military aircraft with 3 engines.. I would think that there are certain situations where having 3 engines would be better than having 2 or 4 engines. Anyone care to comment?
