My post stems from the concern that such use of a drone is becoming more commonplace and the approx 360 licenced operators are fed up of those who care not a bit for the regulations.
Flight safety is my number one objective and many pairs of eyes will be watching the fields before the flypasts, hopefully my concern is groundless.

Like that idea!

I predict the best shots will be taken from a quad drone operating from a a nearby field at a height of about 100 feet and that no permission will be asked for. Its the way things are going.

I’m not even going to take my camera Moggy. As you say you’d miss the reality of seeing the aircraft and just end up taking the same rubbish shot as 5000 others will get.

Hi, long shot I know, but if anyone has a spare adult and child ticket, I would be very interested! Please PM me if you have or know any. Thanks and regards, Sean

I find it a little depressing that of the 5000 people at this unique event, probably once in a lifetime, I’d guess 4000+ won’t actually see it, but spend those moments looking at a tiny screen with a camera, phone or tablet interposed between them and the fabulous reality.
But each to their own.

With IWM’s Lanc tucked up in Airspace. Is there a chance that it might venture outside to share fresh air with the other two lancs and the York?

For our Lancaster, we require 5000′ minimum.
CWHM, can you confirm that will mean you will NOT be landing at Duxford?

Nearly missed getting accommodation near though….phew, just managed to get it sorted late on the first day

Ticket booked, looking forward to seeing her CWH 🙂

PA474 certainly has landed at Duxford since. BBMF’s 50th I recall in 2007 (I think). Jacko Jackson was at the controls of Just Jane when I went for a taxi ride about 10 years ago.

Lancaster Landing At Duxford
Which presumably means that you won’t be landing at Duxford either.
The BBMF Lancaster landed at Duxford after Jacko Jackson Retired early 1980s and I presume that it still lands there

No I am sure you are right, but I have no sense of when. Perhaps no one does know……maybe a long way in the future.
By: Oxcart - 26th June 2014 at 09:08
Don’t think they’d waste money on flight-worthy Merlins if it wasn’t going to fly at some point. But stranger things have happened, I suppose!
By: charliehunt - 26th June 2014 at 08:11
That was exactly my thought when I read CWH’s post. However I am still unclear just how much of a reality Jane’s return to flight is. I have posed the question in different threads where relevant, but have never had a response. Does anyone know?

Thank you for your reply.
At 3116′, East Kirkby is a little on the ‘tight’ side then!
Presumably the runway is going to get an extension when Just Janes restoration is complete.

Duxford paved runway is 4931 feet approx.
