It was practice for some bloody great flypast deal in London. The 3 VC10’s came over on 2 different days & then there was a another flypast practice with the VC10’s, some Canberras & C130’s (I think that was the line up).
On the day of the big show in London some Tornado’s buzzed the town center on the way home, 4 of em in a diamond IIRC.
It may have been ’90 or ’91….?
My guess is it was the practice for the BoB 50th anniversary in 90 over Traf square and along the Mall.
There were a lot of RAF aircraft involved in that flypast.

I used to live just around the corner from the pool, never went in there tho.

Don’t you think that swimming pool is so badly designed, I went there shortly after it opened and the steel brackets holding up the windows were already corroding, the flumes were closed because of leaks and half the toilets were missing.
It also took about 20 minutes to convert the shallow pool into the diving zone, I don’t know why they didn’t build a new pool outside the city centre and flog off the old site for huge amounts of cash which could have provided a half decent design, ie: Colchester or Sudbury, sorry, swimming pool design is a big issue in this house.
Yes I have designed them my self, my latest is in St Kitts, complete with garage underneath, am awaiting the promised site visit with great anticipation.

What wouldn’t I give to see a gaggle of VC-10’s in BOAC colours sat on the apron…
*sigh*
With the exception of the 737, the modern crap just has no character.
