322nd BG Andrews Field

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me where “Andrews Field” was?
It was used by the 322nd BG who flew B-26 Marauders including the famous “Flak Bait”.
I guess it was either in Essex or Suffolk. Could anyone please tell the name of a village nearby as it is today?

TIA, Transall.

The 322nd were based at Rougham/Bury St Edmunds before they swapped bases with the 94th and moved to Earls Colne/Andrews Field in June 1943.

There’s some history of the 322nd here if you don’t know about them already.

My flatmate works there, nice little airfield, very nice bar and a Super Sabre I think on the airfield search for Andrewsfield Aviation on google.

And quite a friendly bunch too, by all accounts. My cousin used to fly out of there a few years ago.

Thanks, Bentwingbomber.

Now I see on the map there is still a small airfield there.

Cheers, Transall.
