I was speaking to some industry dudes the other day and they were saying Canon are going to release a new camera, but it will be an update of the 1d s mk2 as this is about 2 years old now.
They said the 30d would not be replaced just yet.
I wish they would replace it, i kinda fancy some of that sensor cleaning gear
thats on the (little bit too small for me) 400d. 🙂

Coanda
Like you I have seen nothing concrete regarding a 30D replacement, although I suspect in will be spring next year. However using the old crystal ball I suspect the 5D will still be a superior piece of kit!

Eric,
Thing is, Canon are doing their £200 cashback on the 5D (and to be honest theres no advantage for me going for the 30D, its just a back up if absolutely neccessary) until the end of the month, so I wanted to take advantage of that….I’ve heard rumours of a 30D replacement (already!) so I did wonder if we’ll see that soon (although I havn’t heard anthing concrete so I doubt it’ll be for a few months yet.)
cheers

The 5D is in theory at lease a much better camera; it should be it is more than double the price!
Amongst its many features it has a 12.8MP full frame CMOS sensor, the down side of that is ‘no magnification factor with the Zoom Lens.
Even if I had the spare cash I could not justify that sort of outlay.
Everybody seems to think that the 30D replacement is on its way, save your money and hold on for that, unless you must upgrade now!
Cheers
Eric
