This size of tyre was used extensively on post WWII gliders such as the EoN Olympia, EoN Baby, Slingsby Sky, Cadet, Prefect, Tutor & Tandem Tutor. Presumably the size was used because lots were available cheap after the war.
I would also assume that it was a tailwheel size but does anyone know what aircraft were the original users?

AHO 5031 also used on the Master & Martinet.

Hurricane, Hector, Proctor, Master & Martinet all used the same size but not the same wheels.

I have an AHO 5031 in the hall which is ex glider -originally it would have been most likely fitted to a Proctor with an earlier AHO number.

I was told that the EoN Olympia used a Hurricane tail wheel.
