4 people have been killed and 40 have been injured when a Binter Regional while coming into land at Malaga airport. It crashed on a road nar the airport.
The aircraft which i think was a CN-235 was operated by Iberia’s Binter regional and was flying from Melilla in Morroco. Some reports say an engine failed, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing. It is reported to of came down nose first.
Very sad news,regards saab 2000

RE: 4 die in Binter Regional crash
Well, the pilot has just died. Experts are saying that it may have encountered an turbulent wave from the previous landing. That´s quite probable.

LAST EDITED ON 29-08-01 AT 07:53 PM (GMT)[p]Sorry, first when i heard this news on the radio it a said Melilla in Morocco. The passengers were very lucky, looking at the pictures its amazing that some people only walked out with cuts.Unfortunatly the captain is amoung the dead. There was another incident with CN-235 in Turkey a few months ago i believe where there was loss of life which again can lead to people giving the aircraft a bad reputation.Polititians over here in the channel islands also see that something with a propeller is old and unsafe. There have been a few engine failures on Aurigny trislanders which has resulted in them making an emergancy landing on the beach,as a result they want to see rid of Aurigny and so do not grant them any new routes which is a shame.

RE: 4 die in Binter Regional crash
Well first point, that Melilla is not in Morocco is an Spanish city located in North Africa. About the accident, there was an engine trouble and colapsed 200 metres from the runway. At the moment there were strong winds so the first investigations are starting to suggest that a windsheer could have made the plane to go down in a moment of the flight when thrust is limited and sustention is low. We have to remark that the plane was fully loaded. The airline had been purchased by Air Nostrum (other Iberia franchise and was to replace the planes for F50, not for safety reason but for extra capacity and to homogenize the fleet). However, like in all parts of the world people tend to be ignorant on talking about planes. Something small and with a propeller is old and unsafe. Unfortunately this is being used by local politicians to fuel people fears and get jets at Melilla whose runway is the shortest in Europe (1100m).
