422nd Heavy Bomb Group at Attlebridge UK

I was wondering if anyone here was familure with the 8thAF 422 HBG B-24s based out of Attlebridge during WW2. It was at Attlebridge that the Fairington Crew… the last American bomber shot down over Europe during WW2 was based.
A really wonderful book, “The Wings of Morning” by Thomas Childers was written about this crew and operations at Attlebridge.
I happen to have known the officer in charge of intelligence for the 422nd who actually opened Attlebridge for American operations and was there through the end of the war. I have seen many items he kept from those days and had heard many of the stores first hand that I later read anout in Childers wonderful book.

I was wondering if any members of this forum might have been to Attlebridge recently and would you be kind enough to tell me what condition it is in… or is it gone completely?

Another great resource on operations at Attlebridge is:
