In a change to our normal ‘Enthusiast Events’, the Vulcan Restoration Trust are offering aviation enthusiasts the rare treat of watching/listening to four Olympii make sweet music this Saturday, 3 October.
We will be holding a raffle, and the lucky winner will be in the cockpit to fire up XL426’s Olympus engines under the supervision of one of our engineers!
Members and guests should make their way to Hawkwell Village Hall for a 1 pm start (doors open at 12 noon). We will hold the raffle in the hall and we will have a licensed bar and refreshments. A selection of our Vulcan memorabilia, including our (relatively) new polo shirts and baseball caps will also be on sale. We will be showing a rare 1970s vintage documentary from 1pm until 2pm and giving you an update on the Trust’s activities over the summer of 2009. Everyone at the hall will then be given an Airside Pass which will allow you access to the Vulcan once you get to Southend Airport. Transport from Hawkwell Village Hall to Southend Airport will be by your own car – however, if you are coming by public transport please don’t worry, as we will arrange a lift for you from the hall to the airport.
More information will be available on the day. Members are admitted free of charge and we suggest that non-members make a donation of £4 toward the cost of the event.
Please be aware that there will be no access to the Vulcan without an Airside Pass so all guests must come to Hawkwell Village Hall first.
Once over at the airport, Lancaster Bar (formerly Aviators), the flying club next to the Vulcan will be open for food and drink during the afternoon.
