453rd Bomb Group Old Buckenham B24 Liberators – 100's images

1st July sees the 70th Anniversary of the 453rd BG that flew B24’s out of Old Buckenham. Early in the year I posted hundreds of images onto the OLDBUCKSHOTS wartime set http://www.flickr.com/photos/oldbuckshots/sets/72157632031006191/ – The collection now amounts to 360 images of aircraft and personnel

I am pleased to say that some more fantastic images have just come to light – the story of their find is nearly as interesting as themselves !

At a house clearance sale in Montana earlier this year – a box of old camera’s was purchased. One of the camera’s contained an undeveloped film. This has since been developed and was found to contain images of the 453rd at Old Buckenham most of the images you find linked to below – 3 of the 4 side on shots are of aircraft that I did not previously have images of – which makes it even more exciting

This is quite a rarity – most B24′ had Nose art on the port side only – even more unusual is that this aircraft had two names – “YUVADIT” on the Starboard side and “Lovers Lane” on the Post side !

Plus a crew shot of one of the 10 Crews that survived the ware at Old Buck – taken 4th April 1945
