I think if anyone else announces any new routes today I ll have a heart attack.
The new routes scence from DUB has been very quite recently but today its after been turned on its head.
So today we have GulfAir to Bahrain as well as-
Aer Lingus
DUB-Fuerteventura
DUB-Bordeaux
DUB-Riga
DUB-Salzburg
ORK-Warsaw
Aer Lingus the “Low Fares, Way Better” airline today has announced a further expansion of its European route network with the introduction of five new routes from Dublin and Cork which will be included in its winter schedule from the end of September. This expansion brings to fifteen the number of new routes already introduced in 2005, and supports the airline’s growing European operation into and out of Ireland.
The new routes include direct services from Dublin to Fuerteventura, Bordeaux, Riga, Salzburg and a new direct service from Cork to Warsaw. The Warsaw service is Cork’s first direct service to Poland. Today’s expansion follows on from the announcement by the airline last month of two new routes from Dublin to Krakow in Poland and Almeria in Spain which will commence from the end of October.
Announcing the development, Chief Operating Officer, Niall Walsh, said, “The addition of these new routes reaffirms Aer Lingus’ commitment to providing direct, low fares access for Irish customers to exciting new destinations which will satisfy both the business and leisure traveller, as well as providing real growth opportunities in inbound tourism from emerging markets. With new routes, a new short-haul fleet and greater efficiencies of operation we have more than doubled our network in less than four years.
Customer response and bookings on all our routes this year are extremely strong and I am confident these new destinations will be equally successful,” Mr Walsh concluded.

Good news for EI. I take it that EI will use A320’s

Aer Lingus havnt expanded as much this year as they have in previous years. Taking delivery of these new A320s isnt going to make them much bigger than they were as alot of 737s were gotten rid of even before the new A320s started to arrive.
They seem to be doing quite well but apprently hidden under all this good news is an airline who is actually loosing money again.
I tihnk this may be one to watch.

I hope its not going to be a case of too much too soon for EI. The exansion this year so far seems a little ambitious.
