I am a newcomer to your excellent forum – delighted to have found it!
I am writing a general history of Rushall, Norfolk. Part of the RN Airship Station / later 53 MU lies within Rushall parish. I have loads of info about the Airships but am after info / anecdotes / photos about the building and dismantling of the sheds (one of which is now at Cardington) / staff houses and about the Station after it ceased to be used by Airships. I have heard that it was, miscellaneously, a WW2 bomb store (and for filling shells!), a scrap yard for downed WW2 aircraft and a “secret” radio (DF) station before being closed for military purposes in 1958. Gordon Kinsey’s marvellous “Pulham Pigs” book is essential reading for detailed research! I’m particularly after information about how the Station affected life in the Rushall community.
Many thanks.

Pulham, Airships, Air Station etc
Hi Jackrigger,
No, I think the building you refer to is next to the Pulham Garden Centre (Cherry Lane) between Tivetshall and Long Stratton. It was originally the area workhouse in Victorian times and to my knowledge (glad to be corrected on this!) was never used for military purposes.
Regards

I often wonder about that big Hotel ( now flats ) on the A140 at Pulham – was it ever anyhing to do with the aiships’ use nearby?
