Someone please put my memory straight. I did my N/S with 56 Squadron at Waterbeach 1953-4.
In that time four 56Sq Meteor 8s crashed IN ONE DAY, but I have searched the web and can find nothing. I am sure one of the pilots came from Ceylon.
Help please:mad:

It appears not, but did he get on his Bike to visit the crash sites?

Would appear not. His name does not feature among the other pilots involved.

How was he involved?

16 Dec 53, three Meteor F8s; WA769, WA930 & WH283, were all abandoned after running out of fuel trying to land at Waterbeach after failed GCAs.
The pilot of the fourth aircraft, WE510, Fg Off Weerasinghe, was seriously injured in a forced landing rather than abandon his aircraft.
Hope that helps.
