dark light

5CX/5364

I am trying to restore a Westland Sioux panel and the panel surface lights are 5CX/5364. Raised pillars with a post box light opening.

The alloy body seems to have corroded together and not for opening up..

Does anyone know where to get any replacements?

Thanks Gents I removed the copper band that was around the join and there was a small dimple which I assume was to stop it undoing – but still no rotation and I agree that the aluminium inner has powdered and will not release to date. I may steep in my favorite release agent Kroil and see what happens.

Stirling I looked at induction heaters a while back – expensive but great for steel. Have they lowered in price ?

Oracal there was a wire up its rear orifice and the other terminal was attached via the retaining bolt.

I have found one new old stock one although a different stores code – made by Thorn for the Bulldog.

I have at least one working so now I will have two..

I will keep looking for a couple more.

Thanks

Brian

In my experience, post lights are normally secured to a panel using a thin plated washer and a thin plated nut. When the light incorporates a dimming facility then a slotted tab washer would normally be used to prevent rotation of the light. The ‘white powder’ is, as you suggest, corrosion. You can avoid that when refitting by using a jointing compound.

Have recently had great result freeing off same sort of issue albeit steel item using an  induction heater and then turn the bolt

That bolt appears to be either ally or stainless, if stainless it plays hell with ally and will be nicely held in with white powder.

I do know somebody who maybe able to cast ally replacement if you have a pattern part.
