Great shots, especially the first!

Thanks for the info. I would have thought that the A340-600 would be CATIII and the pilots trained to that standard as well so why the diversion? Or was it because of the traffic buildup due to the weather and fuel was the issue?

I imagine it was the holding time, which in turn was a fuel problem.

Nice shots there CloudWarrior, however, I must be honest and say my interest was captured by the Airbus A330-200 (I think?) in the background of the KQ 737 image that is in the part MyTravel/Garuda Indonesia livery; isn’t this a/c now owned by TCX since they took over MyTravel, and if so why is it still in the part-MyTravel livery?

Is it because it is still on lease to Garuda Indonesia and won’t get painted into the TCX livery until after the lease has expired?

You actually saw 2 A340s, both LHR diversions due to weather. G-VGAS & G-VFIZ (pictured)

The Ghana was a B757-200. It is leased by astrateus (however you spell it) and Thomas cook carries out the maintence for them. The bmi B757 lesed from them was also in MAN.

The A340-600’s MAN saw today were G-VGAS/G-VFIZ diverted due to fog. Parked on stands 85 & 73, a very welcome sight. The A340-300 is planned to be used on MAN-BGI this summer, but the first weekend of operation is due to be an A340-600 due to the A340-300 fleet being tied up on that weekend.

Lastly, MAN prepared stand 65 for the SIA A380, as they were told he was comming straight here, but ended up getting into LHR.

Seen it a couple of times today. Are these training/cirtification flight and do Virgin Plan to replace the 747 with the 340 this upcoming season. Ooooor are they starting a new route?

Missed the Kenya but nice catch any idea why it diverted? There was a Ghana 757 outside the Tommy C hanger the other week as well.
