I’m just delighted Turkey are out. I shudder to think what would have happened if our fans and their fans had got together in Portugal… Let’s face it, neither of us have got a clean record… 🙁

Exactly, in a two legged tie the aggregate score is the final result.
6-1 to Holland. 😀
Good luck in Portugal 😉

To get back to Dutchy’s point though…I’m not convinced beating Scotland 6-1 is going to make you Euro champions ? Look at the drubbing France gave us in Paris ahead of the 2002 World Cup and how much they under performed once the tournament started proper.
If anything, soundly beating our national team ahead of a major tourney seems to bring a touch of complacency to the big contenders ?
Nah…. only joking, a team with the diverse mix and range of skilled players available such as Holland does should be more than capable of winning a tournament like Euro 2004. It’s going to take some determination and a little less arrogance on your part though, otherwise you might expect a few more 1-0’s at Hampden Park, a bit like Germany discovered when the original qualifying draws were made and they decided they had won the group already. 😉
well I have to agree with you on the first part 6-1 would not have confinced me either, but 6-0 on the otherhand does.:p

No it was a wave of optimism riding on the back of a stunning victory against a team of international calibre. Unfortunately it seemed to serve as too much of a wake up call, a bit like when we beat England at Wembley during the last Euro play offs. 😀

Well, are you agree with me the The Netherlands is going to win the Football (real football that is) European Championship?
NO
I am very sorry to say so, but I don’t think they will. Very often the Dutch squad seems to lack the will to achieve. Only when they really positively absolutly have to win they go for it.
Yesterday’s game was just the proof of that. They went for it, and slaughtered the Scots. The week before they where rather slow and lost.
When we saw De Boer after the first game he barely sweated! And he came straight of the field! No wonder they lost! That shows that they are not really commited unless it is almost to late.
I hope they will win of course, but I am most definately not betting on it. I couldn’t do so anyway as most of my friends and collegues agree with me! Its a boring bet if everyone bets on the same horse! 😀

Well at least you can say you were beaten by the European Champion 😀 .
Last time we won the EC title, it was in 1988 and we weren’ t at the WC Mexico in 1986, just like we weren’ t in Korea. So you see the paralell here.
We had to play a play off in 1988 as well so again a paralell. Just a shame it isn’ t in Germany, just to give us an extra insentive 😉 .
Futhermore, it doesn’ t matter if you are up against the best in the first round, you have to beat them all anyway, so no problem there.

Be struggling to make it out of the group stage since you’re in the third pot for seedings.
Plus, rememeber that you still only got there through the play-offs, plus you got beat on Saturday, just got lucky last night!!!
