Don’t take me as a train spotter, because i’m not, but I’m interested to see the Duchess of Sutherland steam train at Newcastle Central tomorrow but I don’t know what time it arrives, does anybody know?
Thanks,
Chris

Stirling single
Don’t miss the Stirling Single at York, in my opinion one of the most beautiful locomotives ever built.

I was at Grantham in the mid-1950s and we used to put pennies (remember them?) on the track where the LNER Pacifics slowly crushed them to twice normal size while backing up to the sheds. Halcyon days! Health and safety would be horrified at the things we kids used to do! Of course I’m a Grandpa now!

Duchess of Sutherland mmmm
Fun ny you mention a Locomotive and memories come flooding back, Grandpa used to work at Heaton Junction just outside Newcastle, and when i was a youngster we used to go on a Saturday morning and play in the locos, Grandad used to clean out the boilers and ash pans great job (not) but i can always remember the Mallard, flying Scotsman and several others Sir Nigel was a favorite as well, being my adventure playground many years ago, I missed the Duchess today but hopefully ill see her in the future mmmm great memories 🙂

6233 Duchess of Sutherland
Come on, chaps, this is a steam locomotive, not a steam train, the locomotive and coaches behind it form a train!
