at 9.30 tonight 617 sqd took off to destroy the great dams of Germany.

The Derwent Dam seen a few weeks ago…huge respect to to the crews who flew down those
twisting valleys at low level in Lancs….never forgotten.

Nice one richw…went to the 50th up there………..moving…they would have flown near LJ628 on Upper commons………….not the original practice I may add…..

Were we using double british summer time back in 1943?
So when we think of the first aircraft getting airborne at about 21:30, the sky / sunset would have looked like like it did at 20:30 BST today and that the first mine dropped would have been before midnight had BST been in use?
There was a great sunset where I am in Lincolnshire tonight – couldn’t help wondreing what the sky would have looked like on departure from Scampton back in ’43…
