But no Hurri Bomber?

Looks like we could have been destined for 8 Hurricanes together. A recent IWM press release stated plans for a Blenheim, 2 Gladiator, 8 Hurricane finale flypast. Alas, I’m presuming owing to current engine issues, Hurricane R4118 and TFCs Gladiator have been removed from the list today, with the BHHH Hurricane being added.

You also have to consider that many civilian pilots of warbirds are ex-RAF, and most have experience of formation flying.

Like the CWH Lancaster ?
David they had to get some kind of dispensation and also do a crew formation flying prior to the tour and PA474 had to lead, at Duxford I doubt there would be time to get all the Hurricanes together and sign off, maybe BBMF with form on the rear of any main formation.

Eight was the last substantial gathering, I think, for Angels One Five ( Film 1952) with up to six flying together.
”Angels One Five featured three Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft: Hurricane Mk. Is (p2617 and L1592) on loan from the RAF and Hurricane Mk. IIc (LF363) loaned by Hawker Aircraft. An additional five Hurricane Mk. IIc aircraft (N ° 544, 554, 600, 601, 624) came from the Portuguese Air Force”
Portugal still had over 50 at that time, so perhaps there was a retirement formation, which was the final Hurricane ‘big wing’ …………………….until 2017 !

There should be two on the continent too – AG244 in Germany (was G-CBOE, not sure what the current reg is) and P3351 (F-AZXR) in France.

Surely BBMF will not fly in formation with non RAF aircraft?
By: skeeler - 5th September 2017 at 16:29
Yes, you are right – G-CHTK, owned by peter Monk and based at Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar.

By: LN Strike Eagle - 5th September 2017 at 13:19
R4118 could be touch and go, it has a cracked block. They hope to have it fixed in time.
