70 years on, a new variant of the Spitfire unearthed. 'Prue Freda' on the case…

A new little Polish produced book on the Mk XVI Spitfire dropped through my letter box last week care of ‘The Aviation Bookshop’.

Glug! Glug!

You have to smile. 🙂

Presumable the title given to the a/c that lay on sea and lake beds.

Reminds me of my first visit to the Russian Air Force musem at Monino.

We were being shown round by an old VVS veteran – who had flown B-25’s in the Great Patriotic War BTW.

He was speaking to us in Russian – and we were in front of the museum’s I-16..

I recognised the word ‘Messerschmitt’ amongst all the Russian he was saying – but our lady interpreter translated Messerschmitt into ‘the Mr Smith plane’ !!

Remind me of one of the early flight sims for the 128k Spectrum back in the 1980s.

“You are defending London in your super Royal Marine Spitfire”

I’ve seen this before, in promotional material for a certain well-known UK aviation museum. My guess is that MS Word doesn’t “know” the word “Supermarine” and people don’t know when to stop clicking “correct”…
