It is trueling amazing how long lasting the 747 and 737 jets have , I mean just look at the 747 and how many upgrades it has had and we’ll see it in another reincarnation with the 747-8 which will last a long time , ditto with the 737 with the -900ER stretch this is going to be hanging in there for a while aswell , THESE ARE TRUELY GREAT AIRCRAFT DESIGNS , will have to wait and see if the A-380 and the 787 stack up to this legacy .
Yes boeing has been saying that beyond this version they will most likely be introducing a whole new modern liner to replace the 737 , estimations range from as early as 2012 to some modest expectations of first flight 2014 with delivery 2015-2016 . They will most likely be using a composite fuesalage and will most likely be going in for the intel-composite that boeing as well as Lockheed seem to be pouring in millions of their own money into .

Besides why dwell on something negative like that……
It’s purely an observation on my part…..who’s dwelling and what’s negative about it????

Well it’s over 30 years old as a design so what would you expect?
Besides why dwell on something negative like that……
the -900ER is just another indication of the soundness of the original 737 design.
Good job to Boeing for producing an outstanding airplane.
Crazy to think that a maximum passenger capacity on this thing almost equals the original king of Boeing’s long-range large jetliner force, the Boeing 707-320 Intercontinental.

Lifespan or design limitation? 😉

This airframe can only be stretched and tweaked so much…i think it could be nearing the end of it’s lifespan
