Col Roscoe Turner and Clyde Pangborn landed at Mildenhall in the Boeing 247D, NR257Y, “Warner Bros Comet” which they were to fly to Melbourne in the Mac Robertson Air Race.

That hangar is still there – drove right past it today!
and the Boeing is displayed in the National Air & Space Museum, Washington, DC.
