72 years ago today my wife was born so the 3rd of September is a date imprinted on my mind!

I hope they mention VE-Day and VJ-Day next year as it will be the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, so surely that might mean something, even if they are slow news days!!

surprising lack of recognition of this date in the media – it wasn’t even the first item on BBC’s site ON THIS DAY
Apart from D-Day, I think they have got their work cut out with WW1 for the next 4 years…..!

I can vaguely remember having to listen to the radio, but it didn’t mean anything until about a yera later when the village was bombed

hi,morning,
a somber moment indeed at 1100am, for all the death and unhappiness it caused, but in those days you pledged your word and stood by it, what would have happened if Europe of 1933/9 had imposed economic sanctions against herr hitler. He would have laughed as his troops crossed borders, just about the same as today…
1100am a sad and thoughtful time…
regards
jack…
