787less Heathrow

Hi,

I didn’t discover that the 787 expected at Heathrow last week had been delayed until after waking on Sunday morning. Having got up so early, I decided to still go to the airport, and was glad I did as I saw some interesting aircraft.

The first aircraft to land after I arrived was a Qantas A380:-

Not long after, the Thai retro 747 showed up:-

Ethiopian Airlines are not going to be winning any prizes for the livery modelled by ET-AME:-

Great to see a Sri Lankan A.330 rather than the usual A.340s:-

Never long between United movements now that they have taken over Continental – 757 N14121 came in from Newark:-

Turkish send all sorts of different types to London these days, and I was very pleased to see this A.330:-

Needless to say there were loads of BA Airbuses about – the monotony was broken by the Olympic one:-

Despite the disappointment of the 787 no show, it was a good day, and with the rain holding off until 3pm, it was well worth getting up at 4:30!!!

I hope the photos are of interest – some more are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/indiaecho/

Thanks very much for the comments.

MSR777 – the photos were taken from Feltham Cemetary. It is slightly further away than Myrtle Avenue, but it is possible to sit in your car and watch the action from there, which is a big bonus on a day when is forecast!

Good stuff Neil. Sri Lankan A330 is a real catch (I think).

Some very nice shots there. Was it Myrtle Ave you were based that day? Courtesy of my youngest brother, I had my first visit there for around 20 years. Like me, my brother loves planes, and he sprays the real things for a living, but he was ‘gobsmacked’ seeing the first A380 of the day filling the sky over the Myrtle roof tops. Luckily it was one of those sunny and fairly mild March days, and he made stay all day……a real hardship:):)
