7th December 1941 – Pearl Harbour

I have just looked on the websites for both the New York Times and The Washington Post. Could find no mention of the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour.

Did find this in the New York Times though:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/06/business/dealbook/donald-trump-mayayoshi-son-softbank.html?ref=todayspaper

Makes you wonder . . . . .

Or maybe I’m just being cynical . . . . .

The forum is owned and operated by Key Publishing Ltd and from time to time the forum threads may well advertise or promote Key Publishing’s products apart from the ‘Sticky’ posts which appear at the top of the page. For the avoidance of doubt, therefore, the post(s) referred to are placed on behalf of Key Publishing and not the poster.

The dinner at Chequers to which SNAFU refers is referenced in one of our features this month.

The date on the .pdf front page of the newspaper, on the website, was 7th December 2016.

And why would these publications commemorate an anniversary as much as one day early? ;o)
I am assuming that these news websites might only roll over by date as midnight (or midnight plus one minute, as it is on some sites) passes, although possibly they could be waiting until the exact hour of the anniversary?

Original poster posted at 8:09 GMT; I recall reading that Churchill was holding a dinner when informed about the attack, so this post could have been twelve hours early.

Wondering if Andy Saunders is going to go and advertise on the other Pearl Harbour (don’t pander to those infernal colonials and their savaging of the language, damnit!!!) threads…;o)

hi,
times change, my uncle served in the British army as a territorial pre WWII, then a regular throughout in the European theatre, a few of his TA mates went out to the far east and ended up as pow’s, he then emigrated in 1950 to the US. He would not have anything in the house made in Japan, nor did his friends he died in 2013 age 93yrs. For him the 7th Dec 1941 was a date which lived in infamy…

regards,
jack…

*Harbor* 😉

Meanwhile, over at ‘Britain at War’ magazine, and despite the paucity of coverage on the other side of the pond…
