Please, there’s no need to bait mods. I doubt GA would’ve lied about that, probably just a misunderstanding.

Well Skymonster, aviation is not the major responsible for enviroment polution, cars are worst so far, and many other sector, which don´t have any tax. On the other way, I have heard that on each Ryanair flight only 15 people get the lowest fare, while the rest have to pay higher fares.

I think its about time that the government (the EU if necessary) said that it is socially and environmentally unacceptable for prices like those quoted – £8 trans-Atlantic – to be offered by airlines. There is no way Ryanair or anyone else can move someone from Europe to the USA for £8, either in terms of the fuel (and other resources) consumed or in terms of the environmental damage caused by such transportation. Don’t get me wrong – I have no problem with growth in air travel if the growth is funded by passengers paying both an economically and environmentally viable fare, and I have an intense dislike for government imposed fees and taxes. I also understand the concept of a “loss-leader” (which undoubtedly an £8 fare to the USA would be), but its about time for fares such as this (and others, including intra-EU), which merely encourage unnecessary transport at the expense of others, of the environment, and on the infrastructure they consume, to be reigned in or even stopped for the good of everyone except the few who travel at such fares.

Well sometimes. Ciampino is closer than Fiumicino, operares in Madrid-Barajas (instead in the new Campo Real), and Bergamo is probably as convenient as Malpensa. Ryanair Shuttles help a lot for downtown transport.

Some of them are outrageuos. Oslo-Torp………more than 100 km away. I got it last summer and it was really, really long.

Value for money is quite subjective, personally I think you actually get what you pay for. For instance, a flight to Paris Beauvais, great, it cost £5, but it costs another £50 for the taxi fare into Paris (which is where I wanted to go in the first place)

Defintaely true, and because of that there are a lot of destinations I would never use Ryanair. But if your intended destination is near a Ryanair field, you can get there cheaply. I will always pick BMI, KLM, BA or VLM over Ryanair when going to London as Stansted is hardly local.

However, at my local field Ryanair flies to Madrid (MAD/LEMD). While the MAD-EIN flight has inconvenient timing, the EIN-MAD flight is convenient. For under a 100 euro including taxes I can go to MAD for a weekend plane spotting, or just doing the tourist sites! Try getting such a fare with KLM/Transavia or Iberia/Clickair.

I need flying to NY next october. So, I will rather wait. Stansted is the right one for me. It would give me connections to my hometown. Any idea if the EOS or MaxJet will be replaced in the near future?

Not a chance. It’s going to be a long time before anyone ventures into that market again.

I wonder when the BA A318 will start. I am just amused about how cheap the fares from London are?. Less than 400 euros rt. Even business is really affordable.

That all depends on what your perception of value for money is tenthije

Has it been announced which airports (as opposed to general regions) Ryanair will fly to? When they say New York that opens up a lot of fields, even more with Ryanair’s way of looking at maps.

Ryanair is far from my favourite airline, but with fares like that I will manage for a few hours. As long as the airport is somewhat nearby the place advertised. People may bitch at Ryanair, but they offer tremendous value for money.

O’Leary has just been on BBC Breakfast TV and said that the reports of Ryanair launching transatlantic in the short term are not correct, not attributable to him, and that he didn’t know where they’d come from.

The gist I got was that he confirmed they wanted to start in the short term (well, the article said late 2009, if thats short term) but the £8 ticket stuff was rubbish.

He said that they were still looking at transatlantic but had not yet been able to source a fleet of aircraft to do it – but that he hoped that with the turn down in the economy he hoped to pick up a fleet of aircraft from other airlines and from cancellations at Boeing and/or Airbus. So fortunately the pestilence of Ryanair flying trans-atlantic is spared us for a while yet.

FWIW, profits at Ryanair for the first half year are half of last year, and they are expecting a loss in the second half! It couldn’t happen to a nicer man/airline – NOT!

To be honest FFS you’re a hypocrite.

There was me thinking it was “constructive”

There was me thinking it is “plenty of others will”

See we can all whinge & moan about spelling & grammar, but please get yours in order before moaning about others.
Just remember alot of people may be less fortunate than yourself and didn’t do that well at school (not that anyone here hasn’t to my knowledge), so spelling & grammar may not be their strong points. We welcome everyone to the forum.

Whilst we’re on the subject of Ryanair, there is nothing wrong with people posting what they like provided it is within the CoC posted at the top of the page, & is not libellous in any way (which I suggest you have a wee read).
Now we are all free to click the “red box” at the top of the page if we don’t like what we are reading. Failing that take it up with the webmaster.

Back to topic please

Genuine question, does using red writing make you feel more important?

PS, please learn how to spell Stansted, it’s not Stanstead.

The pathetic bitching crap towards Ryanair is extremely boring now, and to be honest, this forum is worse for it than any other.

If you have nothing constrictive to say, then click that little red box in the top right of your screen.

Seriously, people complaining because an £8 flight across the Atlantic is not operating into JFK, get a grip. If you don’t want to use it, plenty others will.

Ryanair are the most successful airline in Europe for a reason.
