87 Squadron

Nice shot of 87 Sqadron Hurricanes. Not sure where or when though.

You’re right Snaps. 87 taken at Lille, Venderville, November 1939. Bee is fourth from right though (from the man himself).

Without looking in the book I just published I think it’s Lille Seclin. Can’t check right now though. Bee is running third from right from memory too.

87 Squadron

Hi Colin,
This is quite a common pic. Mason, ‘Hawker Hurricane’, has this as 87 Squadron in France, pic taken March 1940 when they were part of the Air Component.

Best Wishes.
Robert.

87 Squadron at Church Fenton?

Hi Colin,

Seem to recognise that photo – I think there’s a large copy in the “Fenton Flyer” pub in Church Fenton, North Yorks, so there’s a possiblity that the photo was taken at RAF Church Fenton. Nothing I can see in the photo to positively identify it though…

According to http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/73to87.html, 87 Sqn arrived at Church Fenton on 26 May 1940.

Ian
